The top priority for most child hood settings is teaching a child to read. (Shipley, 2014). Teachers when they use a developmentally appropriate practice while incorporating a foundation of concepts into lessons can help a teacher differentiate instruction and can engage children in the learning process and help children to achieve. (Bredekamp, 2009). Children are treated as a unique individual and the practices are to be appropriate for the child’s age and their developmental stage and it builds on the concept they were taught recently. It is very important that teachers integrate literacy in all parts of the curriculum. Math can be used in both reading and writing. An example is math and reading doing read aloud with the children will make them remember new things and words. It helps the children to listen and concentrate so they are using these skills. The math concept part you can read a book that contains math or numbers in it you are working also with math through a book. You can use Stuart J. Murphy’s book Math Start and it has mathematical material that children and there are other books that have math and literacy. Asking children questions and getting them to have conversation and using rich language can be used in all content areas. Having them write books or talk about a book that is read in either math, science, and science can be used for literacy with children. In science children seek answers to questions to the real world. Children compare thinking and communicate with each other and express their ideas through their words and graphics. Language is essential in science learning. Scientific literacy is defined as a child that ask, find, or can determine answers to questions that are formed through curiosity about an everyday experience. The one thing I would keep in mind when working with the children is the importance of literacy and how I am going to teach it and to find different activities that will keep them interested, curious, and having a rich literacy environment to encourage them to see print and write
