Do you ever just get butterflies in your stomach from looking at a person you find attractive. Although, you don’t understand why you feel this way considering you’ve never even talked to them, that's known as lust. Lust is very well portrayed in the play Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare. Romeo and Juliet see each other at a party and automatically believe they are in love. The book The Duff by Kody Keplinger is about a girl named Bianca who pursues a relationship with a boy named Wesley. Their relationship is in secret and is mostly sexual up until they start catching feelings. The book explores the different lives and the different status Wesley and Bianca have. A quote that portrays the lust between Romeo and Juliet is the first time Romeo sees Juliet. “O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright! It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night. Like a rich jewel in an Ethiope’s ear; Beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear!” (Shakespeare, Act 1 page 34). Romeo compares Juliet to a rich jewel, and goes onto talking about how she’s too beautiful for her own good. He says all these things about her and he’s never even talked to her. Romeo later on goes into to claim he loves her on the same page. “Did my heart love till now?” (Shakespeare, Act 1 page 34). Romeo has already gone and made the claim that he is in love with Juliet. It is shown that before this Romeo is completely attracted to another girl, Rosaline, but suddenly when he sees Juliet at the Capulet party, he is already over Rosaline. There are scientific studies that show it takes someone around three months to psychologically fall in love with someone. Throughout this whole story we watch Romeo and Juliet make actions based of their lust and liking for one another.
