“Leadership is practiced not so much in words as in attitude in actions.” A true leader to me is Ms. Storti, my Leadership and World History teacher. Personally, I think Ms. Storti is one of the best leaders I’ve ever met. I chose to interview her because I love the way she puts leading and learning in a different perspective that really makes you want to do your best and work harder. She believes that empowering students, making sure everyone is heard, having empathy and remembering that you are serving others makes a great leader. Ms. Storti grew up attending Granada High School in which she works at now. As a student, she looked up to a lot of teachers on campus and she’s glad that she gets to work with them now. She learned that other people believe in what you’re capable of and she wants to be able to help others accomplish their goals. Being a leader is to give them that little push that they need. Being a leader also means you have to do what’s best for all students on campus. “I like hearing people’s ideas and I want to make sure everyone gets what they want but I also have to make sure that it’s safe and fun for everyone.” Creating new ideas as a leader is always fun but making sure everyone gets what they want is also really important. Sometimes, not all ideas are the best but trying to include a piece from everyone's thoughts is better so everyone gets a fair chance. “I want students to be passionate about something.” Ms. Storti loves the idea of students having one thing that they look most forward to during class.
