The first leadership role I would like to mention is my role as an assistant teacher/helper during the summer at our local Boys and Girls Club. The next leadership role I would like to mention is my role as a VBS teacher at my church in Starkville, Ms. I would like to be able to acquire more leadership roles and such in the future to further my leadership horizon. ~What Being a Leader Means to Me~ There are some key things that make a leader a leader to me. The first one is not panicking in the presence of mistake or failure. The second thing is a strong sense of courage and willingness to lead with pride.
Leadership is influencing those around you in a positive way. It also means inspiring others to achieve their goals, while also achieving yours along the way. While inspiration and achievement are essential to be a successful leader, I believe that the most important goal is to encourage others to also become effective leaders. I believe that the following quote aligns to the values of our organization, “I start with the premise that the function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers.” - Ralph Nader.
A leader is someone who leads a group through something and stands up for something that they believe in no matter what anybody else might think. They are passionate about what they are fighting for and passionate about passing on their vision to others around them. To me, being a leader means having leadership. Leadership is the action of leading a group of people or an organization. They have certain characteristics that makes them a leader whether it be a strong mind or good leadership skills.
I define a leader as a person who has not only the ability but also the willingness to endure the hardships others may not be capable of handling. Leaders not only inspire others to achieve goals that seem impossible but manage to get others to work together in achieving these set goals for the betterment of themselves and the mission. Respect, communication, and teamwork are the pillars that I believe most align with my leadership style. Respect is an important part of the foundation as a leader as you are responsible for promoting an environment of safety and growth. Communication is key, without it you are not taking into consideration the issues your members could be having.
Leadership I am a motivated teacher and I love my students at Doss High School, where I teach Business classes. It is through my love of teaching that I am passionate about ensuring all children have the best opportunity to meet their life’s ambitions. I began my first four years of teaching with positive energy and a love of my career. I enjoyed teaching Career Choices class for sixth, seventh and eighth grade students at Frost Middle School. Although Frost Middle school was a persistently low achieving school that presented many challenges, after two years I felt like I was making an impact on my students.

Leadership has played an important part in my life for the longest time. When I was younger I would always make sure that people were doing the right thing, and if they weren't, I wasn’t afraid to tell them and help them out. One of my first leadership opportunities was in third grade. I had just moved to a new school and didn’t know anyone, but I still decided to run for school vice-president. Leadership When I were to look back five years ago to when I was a college freshman, I sit and think to myself: I cant believe I am who I am today. It is easy to sit and talk about who you are and what you want in life but when you actually have to sit back and really think about who you are and critique and analyze your development and growth as an individual. I think that I have many effective leadership qualities. I know that one of my biggest strengths is my communication and people skills. It is very rare that I find someone that I do not get along with. This alone, of course, does not make a good leader though. Reflection skills are another ability that I feel I have a good grasp on.
In sports, I do not hold the title of team captain for simply being on the cross country team for four years. I hold the title because I am able to inspire the team with the effort I put into our daily practices, the fortitude I exhibit during difficult of races, and my ability to communicate with our coaches on sensitive issues. In academics, I do not lead a myriad of clubs just because others shy away from extra responsibilities. I lead because I am able to plan meetings that take into account everybody's interests, because I am skilled at maintaining order even in large groups, and because I am able to balance the responsibilities of leadership with the burden of the most difficult course load possible. Lastly, in scouting, I do not hold the title of Senior Patrol Leader solely because I am the oldest in our troop.
In order to Model the Way, I must first have a clear understanding of my leadership philosophy as well as my voice. I am able to clarify my leadership philosophy by focusing on my inner self as I determined my principles, values as well as my voice.
