There are many different beliefs a teacher has about education and the way that children learn. In this paper, I tend to use real life scenarios that reflect my teaching philosophy and my beliefs of how children learn.
My philosophy of orientation comes from a little bit of the Existentialist and Experimentalists views. According to Wiles, (2011) Experimentalists believe "that education should be child-centered rather than focusing on the teacher or content area. The main focus is on the students being active rather than being passive. The more students learn by doing, the more experience they will get." In my class, I plan my lessons so that my students are actively involved in their learning and the learning of others. They are provided

All teachers are there to make sure students learn, and we all work together towards the goals of achievement. Therefore, I believe my school's philosophy of orientation and educational theory comes more from the Experimentalist and Constructivist point of views. Our schools main focus is on the students and their learning. We do many things at our school to try to improve students' achievement. Our teachers are constantly using data to enhance student learning. We have monthly data meetings with our principal to analyze the data and find ways to improve our teaching practices and make modifications to ensure student success. Our school also has weekly collaboration meetings where we discuss where students are as a whole and discuss ways that we can implement best practices into our classroom to ensure maximum student learning. Our school is all about how students learn and what we do as teachers, facilitators, the principal, and the staff to get our children where they need to be. Our school's goal is to get all our students learning on grade level and for teachers to understand that we need to take responsibility for students learning so that we can improve student …show more content…
I have to analyze my teaching and evaluate myself, and if the strategies and techniques that I am using do not work, I need to find ways to fix them. One thing that I struggle with is making sure I design my lessons with all students in mind. I need to do better at making sure I have a variety of teaching methods during a lesson to relate to all learning styles. Another struggle of mine is that I don't have enough higher- order thinking questions in my lessons, which allow students to think more critically about the content being taught on a daily basis. As far as strengths, I have the ability to become flexible. I have had many instances where my class did not understand something, so I spent more time on it to ensure that my students got it. I believe that it is important to make sure that I don't leave any child behind and make sure that they at least have a basic understanding of the material being presented. Another strength of mine is being aware of students' emotions and behaviors at all times, and being compassionate for struggling students. I think it is important to know each and every one of your students and know their strengths and weakness and take the time to address those needs. There have been plenty of times I have had students stay in for recess because they wanted more help and more clarification on the material I presented that
