First, I would like to thank you all for inviting me to join the Deering Middle School National Junior Honors Society. I understand this is a great privilege to be recognized for my performance in my academic and extracurricular activities. The National Junior Honors Society places emphasis on the fundamental ideas of character, leadership, and citizenship. I feel I have demonstrated these qualities in and outside of the classroom. I am a student who takes great pride in my academic accomplishments, and my activities performed outside of school, and therefore, I would greatly appreciate being accepted into National Junior Honors Society. The National Junior Honors Society could pave the way for countless possibilities in my future endeavors, whether they be in school or not.

Being a student who takes pride in the betterment of their community, I have participated in several activities to help our community thrive. One of my most favorite community activities was the field clean up day for West Warwick Girls’ Softball League. They have hosted this for many years since the league has reopened, and I am proud to say I have partaken in this every year. Another task that is helping me to be a better citizen is Student Council. Student Council is all about giving back to the community. Every year, we host annual fundraisers that gives back to the school community. One of the other annual event that the Student Council hosts is the Thanksgiving Food Drive. Every year we collect canned goods and put the into meals for people who can’t afford to buy one. This past year, we collected an abundance of leftover food, so I came up with the idea of donating the food to a local food
