Nikola Tesla VoIP By: Samuel Reimer October 3rd, 2016 Nikola Tesla was a great inventor and a "mad scientist" of his time best known for his great contributions to the design of the modern day alternating current electricity supply system that we still use today. He had accomplished many things, patented numerous inventions, wrote many publications and received many medals and honors in his time. Unfortunately, he does not receive the attention that he deserves for the things that he has done and that is why I chose him. This project was funded by J.P. Morgan and was named Wardenclyffe. The tower it self was an estimated 187 feet high and was located in Shoreham, Long Island. Tesla had began building the tower in 1901, which was meant to be a global wireless communication system that could be transmitted through it. Tesla had wanted to share information and provide free electricity throughout the world using the tower. There is a reason why I think that he should be in the text books and why kids these days need to learn about the things that he has done for this country and for the world. It was once said by Vice President Behrend of the Institute of Electrical Engineers, during the event where Tesla was presented the Edison Medal, "Were we to seize and eliminate from our industrial world the result of Mr. Tesla's work, the wheels of industry would cease to turn, our electric cars and trains would stop, our towns would be dark and our mills would be idle and dead.
