While working for my previous employer as the Safety Manager, I found that positive feedback and rewards played an important part in employee performance. Prior to implementing my safety program, the crews did not seem to be very motivated when it came to their positions. They began to get complacent, as work became routine tasks for them. As the safety manager, I decided to not only issue feedback to the crewmembers but us the feedback from the crews to better my program. Each month, surveys were conducting asking for ways to improve the organization. This was an excellent way to get needed information. Not all feedback is positive; we did receive negative feedback at times. However, one can easily take the negative feedback to better their programs. Oftentimes, it is hard to receive negative feedback. It is important to give feedback in a timely manner. Waiting to late to give constructive feedback can do more harm than good within the workplace. Feedback is basically a form of communication. Communication is a vital component of human interaction. It is how we transfer ideas, express feelings, and information to one another. Communication helps to bridge relationships within the workplace and within our personal environments. It is God’s will that we actively encourage one another. Hebrews 13:3 reads, “ encourage one another daily.” When we encourage one another, we help to build their faith. There is a saying that for every negative comment one makes, there should be seven positives that follows. It is good to speak positivity in our Christian brothers and sisters. What good is it to tear them down? Christ encourages us to love one another. In order to love one another, we must not speak down on the next man but instead lift him up.
