Informative Speech

Purpose:
To inform my audience on how to present and prepare an informative speech.
Central Idea:
I will explain the steps required to prepare and deliver an effective informative speech. Introduction
“Our goal is not to be a perfect public speaker, since there is no such thing, but to be an effective one. Like anything else in life, that takes practice. It's easy to take communication for granted, since we spend our lives speaking to people. But when our prosperity is directly linked to how good we are in front a group, we need to give the task the same attention as any other serious job. Even world champion athletes practice their craft on a consistent basis”. (Zeoli, 2009)

C. Use standard numbering when formatting the body of your speech

2. Correctly line up your outline
D. Use delivery signals for reminders of pitch, volume, rate, and word adaption
E. Use creditable quotes to draw your audience in
F. Use a conclusion to summarize everything you discussed in your speech.

No one ever said that giving a speech would be easy. But taking the necessary steps to prepare yourself emotionally, physically and mentally will help. Always refer to the DECIDE decision making tool to help guide you through the process of which steps will help you deliver and prepare an informative speech. Your attitude will play a role in the deliverance process. Your attitude will alert your audience about how comfortable you are while presenting. Make sure to rehearse what you want to say, and never give a speech on something you “yourself” don’t believe in.
