I am a recent graduate of Southern Illinois University and am writing to apply for a position as a Paralegal/Legal Assistant with your law firm. The possibility of working for you as a Paralegal/Legal Assistant and handling what the position entails excites me as I look to take a big step forward into a successful career in the legal field.
I believe that I have the skills and experience necessary to succeed at this position. I'll first highlight the work I have put in as an undergraduate student at Southern Illinois University, and specifically a student studying paralegal work. Last May I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Paralegal Studies. I have learned about various areas of law during my time in the Paralegal Studies program. I have also practiced legal research, writing, and analysis in a variety of ways. The classes I have taken under my major include the following; Introduction to Law, Legal Research and Writing I&II, Law Office Technology, Civil Procedure, Criminal Law, Family Law, Bankruptcy, Wills, Trusts & Estates, Torts, and Advanced Internship. These classes were taught by great professors with successful legal careers. Due to their lessons and my willingness to learn, I am well prepped for success in a law firm.

This previous spring semester, I was asked to take a position as a Paralegal Intern. After searching for internship opportunities, I landed with The Beard Law Firm. My role at their law office demanded a great deal of organization, attention to detail, and time management.
