My father is an Information Technology Infrastructure manager for a multinational company known as Pentair Incorporated. Growing up, I spent countless amounts of hours with my father in his office while he worked and observed his utilization of various computer softwares. His role in the company is to plan, direct, and coordinate the design, installation, and connectivity of computer systems and network infrastructure to ensure the stable operation of IT assets. Occasionally, I would get lucky and he would show me one of the thousands of different responsibilities that his job requires- the majority of them consisting of computer technology. Although it would be hard to live up to their legacies, I would love to be able to personally contribute to the field of Computer Information Systems through collaboration with a group of colleagues or an organization in order to develop a computer software that could ultimately benefit society or the community around me in some way. For instance, Pentair Incorporated has been able to extend their computer software programs to help build a safer, more sustainable world and ensure that water is plentiful and pure in many countries across the world. Following the disastrous flooding in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, Pentair took on the task of custom building 11 pumps for a flood control pump station in order to help the members of society affected by the great tragedy. These pumps could not have been constructed without all of the computer software and technology that composes the backbone of the company. It would be my honor and privilege to be able to utilize my knowledge and skills one day to contribute to a cause similar to that of hurricane relief or the betterment of
