My life is driven by the motivation to help people. At the age of 16, I grew interested in pursuing a career in medicine, more specifically Emergency Medicine. I was impressed by observing the remarkable work performed by physicians and paramedics, and was amazed by the impacts they had in the lives of their patients and their relatives. Some of the most significant aspects of a physician is are motivation, perseverance, and teamwork: motivation is important as not anybody can be a physician, the dedication must be something that comes from inside the physician, as the patient’s life and wellbeing depend on the physician’s work; and perseverance as sometimes emergency medicine is about trial and error, just because the diagnostic tests don’t confirm the doctor’s prognosis doesn’t mean that the physician is wrong, they just need to keep trying and never give up, also …show more content…

While I was in high school, my three health science and EMR teachers who are paramedics also inspired me to work arduous and to pursue a career in health. This motivation is what makes me work hard to meet this goal. Even though I am still a high school student, I dream of working as an emergency physician so that I can help save lives and create a positive impact in the lives of the patients I care for. I know I want to pursue this career as an FIU student because: FIU possesses the distinctive qualities that empower its students to reach their dreams, as well as the exceptional medical program that is offered by FIU, and through FIU I know I will receive the knowledge and skill that I will need to reach that goal. Another important aspect of a college student is the willingness to learn new concepts, during my free time I enjoy researching about various topics, usually related to health such as different terminology, diseases, and treatments, and how various medical equipment
