I am applying for the SIMR program to gain research experience and become a part of something bigger for the future of medicine and health. Through research, science will become a new learning experience for me as I apply concepts discussed in class into hands-on work, understand new concepts by observing and analyzing experiments, and contribute to new advancements in medicine that will ultimately help many in our world. I am a good candidate for the program because I am open minded and eager to learn and contribute. A career in the medical field will give me the chance to further pursue my interests in helping others in need through communication and care, while also putting the scientific knowledge I have gained throughout school into practical application. In addition, those in the medical field serve a vital function by taking care of the world. Researchers study cells in labs, working towards understanding diseases to develop new treatments that save lives. Doctors tend for their patients’ health with medical care through relationships of trust, reverence and compassion. They both work to improve the physical and emotional well-being of the population, and I hope to share in that experience.
