Since I was young I had a desire to design stuff and build it, and my trip to New York City my sophomore year of High School cemented my desire to design buildings and layouts. The end goal for me is to be in a managerial position at a construction company where I get to plan subdivisions and buildings. That is why I would like to get a degree in Construction Science so that I can achieve these goals in my life. Knowing what you’re working with supply wise is an important trait as a manager, although this is an entry level job that only requires a High School degree. The goal as an engineer is to do something as effectively and cheaply as possible, while still making a quality product. Engineering Economy class would help learn how to look at the economic side of engineering. Companies don’t want to employ someone who doesn’t know how to use their money wisely, Engineering Economy would teach me the principles of economics equivalence; the time value of money, analysis of single and multiple investments; comparison of alternatives; capital recovery and tax implications; risk analysis; public sector analysis; and break-even concepts. Construction Management includes construction operations and key project management skills. Critical path scheduling, duration, logic, resource leveling, and the calculation of costs. Typical contract formats: project planning with emphasis on legal aspects of various types of corporations and structure. This class enlists all the things I need to know to be in a managerial position in the field of construction. Although others classes will give me information that will be incredibly helpful, I feel as though this class may be the most important that I take. There are no prerequisites for this
