Teddy Pendergrass wrote a song called, “Wake up Everybody” and one verse is specific to what teachers need to do. It goes: Wake up all the teachers, time to teach a new way
Maybe then they’ll listen to whatch have to say
‘Cause they’re the ones who’s coming up and the world is in their hands
When you teach the children, teach ‘em the very best you can.

To strengthen and improve the teaching, I work very hard at all aspects of my job. I attend and present workshops both within and outside of my district. I take part in the school improvement plan. It is important that I have input into any changes that could affect my students. The fact that I make it my business to be well informed; it allows me to prepare the students for changes that will affect them. I am proud to be a teacher because it is who I am. I work to strengthen and improve the teaching profession by sharing with other educators things that work for me in my classroom. I spend a lot of time researching and reading research literature from professional educational organizations. When funds allow me, I attend educational workshops to get new ideas. Ultimately, test scores make some districts, buildings, teachers and students appear more or less effective than others. Change locales, and the same teachers, using the same techniques would get different results from their students. In the teaching profession accountability is more complex. Accountability, responsibility, liability for achievement applies across the board to include students, administrators and parents. Teachers are not the only factor in the achievement-accountability equation. Achievement, improvement and desired outcomes are based on the combined effort and involvement of students, parent’s teachers and administrators.
