I have always been told that life is like a tree. The reason why life is like a tree is because if a tree is planted in bad environment then the seeds of the tree will die off: if it live then the seeds will be weak. My bad environment was living in Burma with no education and forced to move to Thailand as a refugee because the Burmese military leader wanted to rule over everything. I moved to the United States in 2007 and life was really different and challenging because English is not my first language. Growing up in the refugee camp, life was really hard because of poor education and poor health care. I believe going into college will help me be successful and to find out who I really am. To me, success means being proud of who I am. I grew up in family with no background of education is really though. I am a son and the first generation going into college and that will be what make me proud.

You also need to be patient and take care of the tree. To me a good soil and water was moving to the United State which give me the opportunity to grow and have stronger root in education. I sit in class wishing I can be in a class where every student listened while the teacher are talking, but my wish doesn’t work out for me because where there is success, there is also failure. I have to work twice as hard than other kids because I always felt like I was not a smart person. Even when I work twice as hard because English is not my first language, I still don’t feel like a smart person. Whenever I look back, I’m smarter than the person I was before because I try to manage my time and plan everything ahead. I have learned that in order to win, you have to lose as well and learn from
