I have known in my heart since I was a little girl what I wanted to be when I grew up. I have wanted to become a teacher ever since my mom dropped me off on my first day of kindergarten. I could remember walking up to my teacher who was greeting each student at the door and told her “one day I am going to be just like you” and sure enough I am hear trying to pursue my passion for teaching the youth. I have realized that my passion for helping children is a natural calling that I am destined to follow. As a child, I attended school as an escape from a not so good home life. Myself, my two sisters and both my parents were forced to move into a travel trailer. Since there was five of us crammed a tiny space it made it hard for myself to stay focused on school work. I come from a broken home and was raised by my mother and father on a very low income. Thus, I do not receive any financial support from my family and little from the federal government to fund my college education. Therefore, my financial needs are very high. Throughout my life I have strived to achieve my goals solely on hard work and determination. My parents have taught me my work ethic and I am proud to say that I am hardworking and can learn most skills fast. I love people so it makes me a very friendly person so I can get along with anybody and that’s important because I can be around many different people and personalities. I focus really well and if I have a task at hand I will finish it with no hesitation and to the best of my ability. I enjoy learning new things so any chance I get I will try to learn a new way to help me in my classes. I tend to be a visual learning so I am constantly trying new ways to relate my learnings to real life situations. I work very hard to keep my grades up even while working as a full-time waitress. One of the first things that I have done in order to overcome the challenge of being a low-income student has been looking for way to get extra income. I am originally from Paso Robles so in order to help pay for my schooling I travel two hours home every weekend to work at a restaurant that provides me with tips that helps me save and pays for tuition.
