Entering college, I didn’t know which direction my life was going to take. I hadn’t really thought of my interests or how they could be applicable to my future professional life. The word ‘major’ freaked me out. I went into the CAPE career services countless times, researched every major so thoroughly I could describe them to anyone who asked, and took an infinite amount of assessments and quizzes. I finally stumbled upon a major that not only seamlessly matched my interests, but I found a passion for. Business and marketing education is a major that not only incorporates two of my passions, but is the perfect major for me; emphasizing the ideas in business I find most important, like education, technology and people. As I am a social person, who likes to organize, run and promote certain events or businesses, utilizing this track is the perfect way to advance my professional career track. I am drawn to human and educational aspects of business and marketing. While I thought about potential majors this and last year, I considered teaching. I realized that while I found it interesting, I didn’t think that specific major would best fit me. With the business and marketing education major, I can incorporate the educational aspect that I am passionate about and turn it professional skills for myself. Growing up, although I never could decide what I wanted to do, I used to dream about owning my own business or company. I would look for ways to use business and marketing without even knowing it. When I discovered this major, it felt like a game changer. I had a life direction that felt valuable and rewarding. While looking at the major requirements, I became drawn to the class descriptions.
