Why I want to be a nurse?
Ever since high school, I have not been able to decide what career I wanted to pursue. I was so focused on following my dream which was to play professional sport such as basketball or football. I wanted to live out my dream so badly and having a backup plan was not an option. I do not have any regrets, but if I could go back in time, there would be a few things that I would change. Those life changes would lead me to where I am today. I was also told to do something that I would to do for free; that would show how dedication and enthusiastiasm. My interpretation of each piece of advice is not doing a ‘job’ or going to ‘work,’ but ‘loving’ the service. I often use a quote by the Late Steve Jobs, “ The only way to do great work is to love what you do.” I am passionate about helping others and being available to those who are in need. Seeking a human service career that I would be able to revel in and give back to my community is a dream. In my family, I am the first male member to be enrolled in a nursing program with the goal of becoming an RN. It would be a great pleasure to work alongside nurses and doctors who are committed to making a difference, saving lives, providing care, and sharing knowledge to those who are in need. Not only would I be living out my passion, but I would also be able to give back to the community through my service. Being able to learn information about the human body and having a career in the medical field is something that I can see myself doing every day. Not only am I able to have that vision, but I would also have the pleasure to love and enjoy what I am able to.
