Why I want to be a nurse?
Ever since high school, I have not been able to decide what career I wanted to pursue. I was so focused on following my dream which was to play professional sport such as basketball or football. I wanted to live out my dream so badly and having a backup plan was not an option. I do not have any regrets, but if I could go back in time, there would be a few things that I would change. Those life changes would lead me to where I am today. As I grew into a young man, I have noticed that living life with one dream or passion had set limits on the numerous opportunities that were available to me, but also, that life does not always go as planned. I was also told to do something that I would to do for free; that would show how dedication and enthusiastiasm. My interpretation of each piece of advice is not doing a ‘job’ or going to ‘work,’ but ‘loving’ the service. I often use a quote by the Late Steve Jobs, “ The only way to do great work is to love what you do.” I am passionate about helping others and being available to those who are in need. Seeking a human service career that I would be able to revel in and give back to my community is a dream. In my family, I am the first male member to be enrolled in a nursing program with the goal of becoming an RN. It would be a great pleasure to work alongside nurses and doctors who are committed to making a difference, saving lives, providing care, and sharing knowledge to those who are in need. Not only would I be living out my passion, but I would also be able to give back to the community through my service. Being able to learn information about the human body and having a career in the medical field is something that I can see myself doing every day. Not only am I able to have that vision, but I would also have the pleasure to love and enjoy what I am able to.
