Introduction Teaching is such a great part of my life. However, to have an effective school year and one that will run as smooth as possible, I have to be prepared, beyond prepared actually. There are a few things that go along with being prepared. First, my class motto; this is something that represents me and my class. Second, my philosophy; what do I believe and how am I going to teach and reach my students? Third, classroom diversity; how am I going to make every child feel important, fit their individuality, and how am I going to include them in my lesson? Fourth, my learning style; how am I going to accommodate each child individually? Fifth, classroom arrangement; how am I going to arrange my room so that each child gets everything they can out of every day? Sixth, student motivation; which is a key one, how am I going to keep them motivated in learning? Seventh, my procedures; I need to make sure they are able to understand the ins and outs of the routines of the classroom. Eighth, class rules; this needs to be established from the very beginning so there is no question on what the rules are. As I teach year after year I will gain more experience. I really focus on the student-centered approach. I want my students to learn to be responsible in everything they do. I make sure that all students understand my expectations for the classroom; I am firm, caring, and consistent when it comes to disciplinary action. I make sure that my classroom is a positive, safe learning environment for all of my students. Every year there is a new set of students; therefore, I adjust my plan according to my student’s needs. I do my best to be proactive. This is an important part of classroom management. I do my absolute best to prevent any possible behavioral issues before they
