Personal Statement: Pursuing A Degree In Nursing

Since I was toddler I’ve always been told that I had a distinctive nurturing nature. My mother told me that about around the age of two if I were to go somewhere and someone was the give me something she said I would always say, “May I have some for my sissy's(sisters).” Think this characteristic as well as an outgoing and positive personality lead me to want to explore careers such as pediatrics, nursing, and social work.
When I first enrolled in college I thought a wanted to pursue a career in nursing, very reluctant to say, I did not do my research on the field and was ill prepared for it. Helping others is honestly what I live for, the betterment of my community and the children in it is my way of making a difference in this world. Having to prospect into different people's lives, which in most situations are not good, and hopefully being able to change it with positive growth and maintaining the upbeat that life can offer would surpass the gratitude they would have for me.
The strong rooted family background that I have is what i contribute my current success too. When I was growing up they was still the belief that “it takes a village,” much of which we do not see anymore. My family struggles I believe have also carved me into the person that I am today. Having that nurturing nature, outgoing personality, and an optimistic spirit in any situation are some of the strengths needed in the field, all of which I possess.
Being employed at Trinity Grove for three and a half years now, it is a wonderful non-profit corporation. The faculty I work is in a popular area so you get so many people from different walks of life and having to meet the pleasant and unpleasant, caring for other peoples loved one you get the opportunity to learn about their lives and it is just amazing to be apart
