Imagine being in college and going out with your friends to a bar that is nearby. Everyone is drinking and having a good old time with some friends you haven’t seen for a while. You suddenly get extremely tired, you say your goodbyes to everyone, then start heading towards the door. One of your friends notice that you are trying to leave with your car keys in your hand, he pulls you to the side, and calls you a cab because they are aware of the horrible dangers that driving while being intoxicated have. Driving while drunk is a serious that occurs more frequently in our society today. Being intoxicated while being behind the wheel is extremely dangerous and can potentially be very deadly.

People need to stop and think about the decisions they make, and how they are going to effect themselves and others around them. It takes 2 seconds to ask yourself “am I okay to drive home?” or “will I possibly effect someone if I chose to drive after I have had a couple of drinks?” There are multiple ways that anyone in this situation could handle it. The number one outcome is to not consume alcohol at all, but we all know that this is very unlikely for a large number of people, especially college students. With that being said, the next best thing to do is to select a designated driver for the night, this is someone who is not going to consume alcohol or any type of drug, that will be responsible for getting people home once the night is at its end. If no one will step up and be the designated driver then the next best option is to plan on calling a taxi cab, an uber, or you could even arrange for another friend who wasn’t at the party you were at to come and get you. There are so many different alternative for driving while intoxicated, be the bigger person and don’t just think about yourself, think about the other people that will be in the car with you, and or the people that will be on the road at the same time as you. It isn’t fair for someone to get seriously injured, or lose their life because of a stupid decision you or one of your friends make. Be courteous of your action and how
