Animals In Labs: A Look Inside Imagine yourself being locked in a hospital for your whole life being poked and prodded and forced to inhale harmful chemicals, or take medications that have not been approved only for the benefit of someone else. While there, you are being injected with diseases that your body doesn't get naturally nor can it fight them off. Animal testing has been a controversial topic for years and is divided between ethical backgrounds and the scientific aspect. Inhumanely treating animals with unnecessary tests for the use of human products that often lack validity, due to different ways animals and humans react to certain chemicals and supplements, should be banned. Scientist’s perform a variety of tests on animals where their reactions may be painful or cause unnecessary suffering. Multiple tests cause the animals to react in a way humans would not. One test performed on rabbits is called the Draize Eye Test. It was developed to assess eye irritation caused by a variety of chemicals by scientist John H. Plenty of animals are suffering each day in attempt to find treatments for humans that rarely work. According to Cruelty Free International, $50 billion a year is invested into research by the U.S. drug industry. Animal experimentation wastes, “not only our time, money and animals lives (with a huge amount of suffering), but effective treatments are being mistakenly discarded and harmful treatments are getting through” (Cruelty Free...). When the harmful medications are passed on to human trials it ends in unscientific results and can cause pain for the human subject.
