According to the Humane Society of the United States 64.5 percent of animal abuse cases involve dogs, 25 percent of those dogs were pit-bulls. (Animal Cruelty Facts and Statistics) dogs are not the only ones. Eighteen percent of cases include cats, and 25 percent involve other animals. Even though not all cases are considered animal abuse cases, solutions for animal cruelty are a federal level registry for convicted animal abusers, as well as, education starting at a young age on treatment of animal, and also knowledge and boycott of companies that use animals for testing.
Every day animals are beaten, neglected, or forced to struggle to survive. Left with no water or food, they have little hope in their unsanitary living conditions. Some are found and rescued, given a chance to experience a good loving home; but others aren’t so lucky. A

Some say that animals are tested with experimental drugs for the human health, but also PETA states that ninety two percent of drugs that are safe for animals are failing in human clinical trial because they don’t work or are dangerous. The Animal Welfare Act (AWA) originally signed in 1966 and last amended in 2008 which increase the fines from $2,500 to $10,000 per violation, per animal, per day. In addition, it addresses the use of cats and dogs in Federal Research. That brings us to the question whether or not animal such as mice, guinea pigs, rats, birds, reptiles, and amphibian are included under the protection of the AWA. The research done by DoSomething.org explains that mice, rats, birds, reptiles, and amphibians are exempted from the minimal protections under the Animal Welfare Act.
