Over 115 million animals are used annually all over the world. The FDA defines cosmetics as “articles intended to be applied to the human body for cleansing, beautifying, promoting attractiveness or alternating the appearance without altering the body’s structure or functions”. These tests are cold-blooded and unproductive in most cases. Animals don’t get a few of the diseases we humans do, like major types of heart disease, some cancers, HIV, or Schizophrenia. Since so many animals aren’t protected it would be more humane to use alternatives.

There are many alternatives testing methods. Petri dish tests can be more relevant because they can use human cells. Another method is microdosing on humans. Volunteers are given an exceptionally tiny dose. Drug compounds that won’t work in humans can be seen so they don’t have to be tested on animals. Some companies have built chips that imitate the design and workings of human organs and organ systems. Studies show that computer modeling can accurately guess the way the human body will react to the drugs. Alternatives can often be more relevant, efficient, and
