Do You Really Know What Animal Testing Is? When going to pick out your makeup, do you even look to see what your actually buying? Today most beauty and household products are being tested on animals. Animals that are completely helpless are being tested around the world. By looking at all the tests that animals have to go through, humans would never imagine having to replicate on themselves. Animals should not be used to test new products. Chimpanzees should not be used to test new products. These are large animals with lots of mental and emotional capacity. “...In the early 1920’s, experimenters in the United States began purchasing baby chimpanzees, who had been kidnapped from the forests….” The experimenters captured the baby chimpanzees by killing off the mother and any other animal who tried to guard the baby. During the capture of the babies, the mortality rate increased. Even after the European Union passed a ban on the great ape experimentation, in 2010, the United States still continued to conduct invasive experiments on chimpanzees. This is a cruel and inhumane way of capturing or testing on an animal. The innocent chimpanzees population is decreased and struggling to regain substance. There is a way to stop animal testing. Mice give birth to a litter between three and fourteen young. A female can have five to ten litters per year. Since the mice population is increasing , animal testing does no harm in decreasing the population of mice. Mice do reproduce quickly and in volume, killing them does not benefit any of the animals or humans.
