In 2000, nearly 30,000 people died due to uncontrollable gun violence even though the U.S. has thousands of gun laws. Gun control is now one of the main political issues because of all the shootings in the past decade (Slideshare). President Obama stated that “gun violence has reached a crisis point we must address” (“Watch”). Everyone believes that once gun control is implemented the government will take the guns away or outlaw them but this is not true. What gun control means is that certain types of guns will not be available. By implementing this proposal, this can change how many fatalities that had occurred in the recent year. Just imagine the victims of Sandy Hook, the Colorado movie theater, and the terrorist attack in San Bernardino coming home to their families all because a strict gun law was passed.

For instance, gun control would put more restrictions on who can purchase a gun because some people aren’t in the correct state of mind to purchase a gun. In addition, even if they are in the right state of mind they’ll have to be evaluated in order to make sure no ties are held with any threats. Also, gun manufacturers should be able to make the gun totally child proof. They should start testing gun safety as much as they do with car safety. Each gun should be given a safety rating as do cars and they should manufacture safety locks to adhere to only an adults strength and only complex enough for an adult to understand to disable the safety
