Legalizing marijuana is a very heated conflict in Florida at the time. Many people are for it, while others strongly oppose it. Legalizing marijuana would cause many problems in the state. Legalizing the drug would allow easy access to people who do not need it. This will also allow teens to be able to get access to marijuana. Legalizing marijuana will cause many issues for the state and should not be legalized at all. The legalization of “medical” marijuana is based on the idea that the drug is good for treating cancers and other illnesses. It is also based on that the selling of medical marijuana would be great for the state’s economy. Since the drug, if legalized, is going to be given by a prescription, not everyone who wants the drug receive it. This may cause drug related crimes to drop, but may cause others, like murder, theft, and assault, to go up. Anyone who cannot get any form of access to the drug will become desperate for it. When a person becomes desperate for something that they are addicted to, they will not stop at anything to get their hands on that drug. People will start to break into people’s homes to look for and steal marijuana. People will start attacking people and beating them on the streets to see if they have a precision of marijuana. People will even murder for the drug. This will cause major problems for the state of Florida. The murder and theft rate will rise and people will be afraid to leave or even be in their homes. Also if the drug is legalized and only available through prescription, people will turn to other drugs to get the same effects they can get from marijuana. This will still keep the drug crime rate up as high as it is today or allow it to grow even higher. The state does not need a growing murder rate or growing drug crime
