If cannabis gets legalized for recreational use, it might not be a big concern at first. But after sometime I believe the misuse of cannabis will get out of control. This might cause cannabis consumers to have many more drug dependences. If people get hooked to other drugs, they will try to get more potent drugs legalized. Many dangerous drugs like prescribed pills are already legal. Cannabis can be the gateway to legalizing more potent drugs, which we don’t need to have legalized. Drug addiction is already bad in the U.S. legalizing cannabis might make drug addiction worse. Cannabis will make huge tax profits but what about the impact it will have on people. We now have bad substances for example alcohol and tobacco. These two substances appear to be abused a lot and not to mention it has had a very bad impact on consumer’s health. Now just imagine adding another substance to the list for people to abuse. They have to rethink the legalization of cannabis once more before it’s too late. Consumers tend to say cannabis is not a dangerous drug but not everyone has the same tolerance for substances. When they legalized cannabis for the first time it was to be used for medical use only. That was fine because there are many patients out there who need cannabis. What I didn’t see okay is the fact that after sometime they legalized cannabis in some states for recreational use. After that many civilians started to protest and argue that it should be legalized nationwide. I believe they should have left cannabis for medical use only not for recreational use.
