The tragic attack at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, has raised concerns among many people across the nation. While mass shootings are uncommon, they may be escalating. They all have horrible effects on a whole community. Overall, the United States has become somewhat safer. How can we stop such acts and guarantee that people feel safe in their homes and communities? We are way too exposed to violence. The means for carrying out mass shootings are all around, and those who might be responsible for them are free among us. It is too easy for anyone to obtain weapons that are designed to kill a large group of people in a number of minutes. Restrict assault weapons, high-capacity magazines, and armor-piercing ammunition. There's a lot of instances where people, even students of a young age have had access to and have either gotten close to a mass shooting or have caused tons of injuries and deaths to people because of high assault weapons. Hunters do not need an AR-15 to gun down an animal. None of us need a gun of such high capacity to gun down someone in self defense. Some people disagree and would say it is a violation to their second amendment.
