“BEEP, BEEP, BEEP.” Everyone knows the sound going off at as early as 5 a.m. Maybe they didn't go to bed till 11 because they were up all night doing homework or studying for a big test the next day. Schools should make the starting time of school be at 8:40 instead of 7:40 as there would be many beneficial effects along with it.. Many would disagree with this but how does getting more sleep, seeing an increase in grades and GPA’s, and students being more focused and aware of their surroundings and focusing better in school not sound appealing. Students that wake up at 6-6:30 a.m. in my opinion dont have it that rough, but what about the students that have to wake up at 5-5:30. Students that have to wake up that earlier definitely would benefit from school being pushed back an hour later. They would have the opportunity to get more sleep and feel awake in the morning. Students can't just go home and go straight to bed they have a life outside of school like spending time with family, having a job, and simply just being able to sit down and rest. The reason pushing the start time back would help this is students wouldn't feel rushed and feel the need to speed to get to school because they would have gotten enough sleep the night before and wouldn't need to get up as early. Driving tired is just as bad as driving drunk, so preventing tired driving as much as possible would benefit everyone on and off the road. Not only being fully focused and aware of your surrounding on the road is important, but being aware in your school is important as well.
