Syrian refugees affect national security by making it difficult to weed out terrorists from the actual refugees, keep the country and its people safe, and by making the screening process more thorough to keep out enemies.
Floods of refugees are bringing in multiple different types of people. Some are good and some are bad. The united states has no other responsibility other than to keep the american citizens safe. The problem with screening syrian refugees is that if they’ve never crossed the screens before or been in the country, thus resulting in nobody knowing anything about the person as an individual. The result of letting millions of refugees into america already lies in western europe. They have overwhelming numbers of middle eastern refugees that have been unassimilated and unchecked. This has caused them to have “no-go zones” where even law enforcement fear to enter the regions. The world has drastically changed and we can not go about immigration as we used to. “The starting point of any policy debate is that the government of the United States has no responsibility to anyone but the citizens of the United States.” (Center for Immigration Studies) America is a place where many immigrants have come to have a safe home and to start over. They have contributed to bringing so much diversity to this country and has helped us learn about their culture tremendously, but society has changed and it’s not for the better. “America has always been a country of immigrants celebrating their individual heritages alongside the ideals of freedom and liberty that bind us together as Americans. But the world has changed, and a refugee policy that casts aside the safety of American citizens must also change.” (National Review) It’s the president’s job to protect american
