There are a lot of campuses around the country that have school’s that’s not out for the summer. The idea of changing the school year structure has expanded all over. Year-round schooling would be a good change for many; it is considered a series of shorter breaks throughout the year. It is not necessarily the same as expanded learning time, such as longer school days. Many schools just reorganized the regular 180-day school year, which will allow them to be flexible with their school time.
For some reason, schools all over are changing their programs to a year-round curriculum. The schools that have changed to be year-round which shows that students and teachers no longer have the custom of two months of summer vacation. There was a study …show more content…

Many parents thought the program was an awesome opportunity to enhance their kid’s activities, and grades. Some parents also believed that children on the traditional calendar were getting less schooling because of the modified calendar. They felt that classes were not conducted as usual because of a large number of classmates involved in the activities. They also felt that students that were on the traditional calendar would never catch up, or would receive the same number of classroom hours as students on the modified calendar. “We caution schools and districts wishing to implement even modest changes from what has become entrenched as “traditional” to learn from the experience of Poseidon District (Shields, 2000)”. Teachers and parents were associated with a generally high level of support for the modified calendars. As researcher stated, “the participants were pleased that each school council had been permitted to design its own calendar than having to adopt a district-imposed modification. The district was also careful to build adequate support for the change by setting a very high threshold for approval and by providing safeguards for those opposed to the calendar change”.
