The World of Animal Testing Everyday we use dozens of products, eat a plethora of foods and indulge in the world of technology. But, are people aware of the uncivilized animal testing that is done to bring those products to us? Or does society care? Around the globe, animal testing is conducted on an assortment of animals to bring almost everything we have to us right now. Animal testing is completely unnecessary, brutal, and needs to be stopped for the compassion, wellbeing, and health of both humans and animals. One might object and say that animals are good test subjects because of their similarity to humans and claim that tests are needed for to safe products, medications, and cures for diseases but animals are rather very different from humans and cause unreliable results that are even more dangerous for public use. There are great cellular and anatomic differences in animals that actually cause animal testing to be quite inaccurate. Many medications that are suitable for humans kill animals for example Aspirin will kill cats and cause birth defects for many other tested animals including chimpanzees (which are proven to share more than 96% of human DNA according to Lovgren), dogs, mice and rats.Even many of the diseases that we get, scientist have to induce the same symptoms into animals to simulate the diseases of humans. So if diseases are being simulated, then results will be totally unreliable. Also , animals do not contribute as much help in the world of cancer research as well as most people may think because so far, animals have only been observed to be effected by one of the three substances that is known to cause cancer. Other symptoms of cancer would have to be induced. Since animal testing started to be conducted for the war against cancer in the 1960’s, deaths for cancer has increased 73% (according to
