Philosophy Statement

I realize that in my future classroom, I will have a diverse group of students. All of my students will be unique in their own way and may learn differently than the student next to them. There are so many types of diversity that can be found in a classroom. For example, student differences could include different reading levels, cultural backgrounds, religious beliefs, etc. I believe schools have recently started discussing diversity more. Schools have been making more connections to diversity as a wonderful thing, rather than something that impacts their schools in a terrible way. I have seen schools starting to support the diversity of their students. In relation to my Philosophy of Education I stated, “To better help and understand my wide variety of students, my lesson plans may be altered on the spot. I want to reach each different student by discussing the traditions in each students’ families and cultures.” I want my students to know and …show more content…

Since students are spending most of their time in school, it has a great impact on their individual lives. Some of the very first classrooms, it were solely teacher-based with lectures and then assessments for the students to pass. Over many years we realize now all the diverse learning and teaching styles that can be found in just one classroom. Some pieces of educational design that have changed for the better are designing classrooms to be more student-based. In relation to my Philosophy of Education I stated, “A student-centered classroom ensures and provides more hands-on learning experiences that the students will need for the real world. I believe that teachers help create a safe place for students within a community. This enables them to inspire students, and in return helps to shape future generations and communities.” This change and many others like it have greatly impacted education as a whole for the betterment of
