My grammar has improved because in my first essay there are several verb tense errors, but in my third essay there are no errors. In my earlier essays, there would be simple words, but in my fourth essay there are more complex words like ‘deranged’ and other words. Compared to the First-Week Essay, how have I changed as a writer? Writing has always been a struggle for me. I could not figure out what to write about, how to write it, or how to organize my thoughts. In the First-Week Essay, my thoughts are unorganized and, for lack of a better term, sloppy. I noticed these aspects while revising Essay One.
This semester was filled with many bumpy roads. I struggled in the beginning of the semester with my writings , as I didn 't feel confident enough to write a well developed writing. I seemed to find myself struggling whereas writing was not my favorable subject. The major errors I had in my writings this semester would be , grammatical errors,work citations, transition words, formatting ,paragraph development, sentence structure , and sentence level issue. Therefore I have set goals to improve my writing in the future.
The way that the poems end is also quite different. This is considering that in the poem Cory, the main character dies. It is not the case when it comes to the second poem as all the characters are seen to survive the situation. More importantly, there more than one character that are seen in the poem, Tuesday. This is used to diffuse the concentration of the subject matter while in the poem Cory using one main character concentrates the themes of the piece to one person.
The most significant changes I made in the original draft was checking if my story made sense. I read my article a couple of times to see if there was things in the article that didn’t make quite sense. I revised a lot of times. I found there were words that was not necessary to be in the article. I had to make my sentences be sentences to make it have sense.
The two poems that we read about which was “Passionate Shepherd” and “ The Bait”, both poems intended to have beautiful meaning and the poets objective was to win over a girl that they wanted to impress and marry. The difference is that Marlowe the poet of “Passionate Shepherd” was going more for of the idyllic approach basically meaning being one with nature. While John Donne was going after that similar aspect while having a bit of a different approach to it focus on being one with nature but also focusing on the beauty of the woman and being very detailed with the different features and Marlow focused on trying to explain to the woman he loved all the different things that he could buy her, he focused more on materialistic things. All people have their good days and bad days. In the poems “Piano” by D.H. Lawrence and “Those Winter Sundays” by Robert Hayden, the speaker's experience both good memories and bad. Both speakers lived a simple life but what they as a individual were going through was not so simple. The poems each show love even if it's hard to tell. I took the time to write out an outline for this essay to help manage the chaos that is my writing, unlike my other essays for the course. As I said before, I have learned to question the structure of my paragraphs. For example: when I was revising the Composing Process essay, I noticed that a set of paragraphs could be rearranged and partially rewritten to improve the structure and make the essay flow better.
