Pro Choice is Pro Women In politics, there is no completely correct answer on contemporary issues of the modern era. The men and women in power try their best to follow the constitution and allow people to have their freedom. On January 22, 1973 the Supreme Court decided seven to two that abortion should be legal and considered a fundamental right under the fourteenth amendment. Although this allows women to have liberty, others argue that the fetus should be entitled to life. The war of pro life against pro choice is still prevalent and has been since the 1800s. It is not a topic widely discussed outside of political debates. “Thirty percent of American woman will have an abortion by age 45”- Zahra Barnes; That is nearly one in four women and it means the average person could know people who have had this procedure done without knowing they specifically had. Contrary to popular belief, not only teenagers and those below the poverty level go to the clinics. There are also a fair amount of women who already have children that find it beneficial; “Fifty-nine percent of women who have abortions have already given birth.” - Zahra Barnes. One of the reasons is so attention is not spread too thin among the children already born or not having enough space for another addition to the family. Allowing a woman to choose what to do with her body is basic feminism. It gives her empowerment and protects these women from financial disadvantages, especially if the man is not around to help raise a potential child. A single parent can manage as long as he or she loves the child. If a child comes into the world unwanted, it creates a multitude of problems for the new life.
