Professional Development Plan: Leadership Reflection A leader is someone who guides, molds, and influence others to be better to reach the goal envisioned by the team or the organization. In this class, I have learned the importance of the leaders, as well as the followers. Without followers, there will be no leaders and vice versa. Both work hand in hand to be able to achieve a certain goal in an organization. In this final paper for the class, a reflection of what I have learned in this class in becoming an effective leader, what are my leadership capabilities, and where I envision myself in the future will be discussed. I will do this through continuous education, attending seminars, surrounding myself with other influential leaders and networking with other leaders in the field. My first objective is to read a book or two per year regarding leadership and influencing others. Just like my goal, I want to continue to improve my leadership skills thus widening my horizon and expanding my knowledge on leadership. My second objective is every year, I want to influence and encourage one to five people per year to be a leader. I want to start empowering and mentoring others which are the role of leaders. That is one of the lessons I learned from this class, the importance of leadership in influencing others. I can use my knowledge on lifting other and attaining their full potential particularly as a leader. Third, I will assess myself yearly how I progress and how I am as a leader. I can do this by using computer program regarding leadership self-assessment called The Leadership Framework Self assessment tool. I can also gather feedbacks from my coworkers, colleagues, and peers. Lastly, my I will set goals yearly on what I want to do as a leader. It is important that I continually reflect and set goals to push myself to be better. Right now, I do yearly personal goal setting and it helped me visualize what I want to achieve in each year.
