Career Project -- Matt Simmons -- Real estate sales agent

The career I have chosen is a Real Estate Sales Agent. According to “The Occupational Outlook Handbook” real estate sales agents have duties such as helping clients buy, sell, and rent properties. Sales Agents usually work for a Broker, who are higher up on the scale, they usually do the same duties as a typical sales agent but in addition do other things and run the business.
Other duties of a Sales Agent include, advising clients on prices, mortgages, market conditions and related information, take clients to see houses/properties , prepare legal documents , such as contracts, purchase agreements, and deeds and make negotiations between the buyer and seller.

Being a sales agent doesn’t seem to be a extremely popular job because the growth rate in this field is a slow 3% (lower than the national average) and there was 421,300 jobs in this field as of 2014. With an increasing economy, there will be lots of work for brokers to do because people will be looking for houses, but when the economy is bad the work that is available for agents will decline. All of these skills are useful as a Sales Agent so going to school to improve these skills will make me a much better Agent. At Utah State,the minimum requirements to be admitted are, a GPA of 3.5 or higher and a ACT score of 24 or higher. This program will take about 4 years to complete. A single semester at USU will cost ($25,570 out of state) which will add up to $102,280 about for the four year course (plus room and board, books, food etc.) After attending USU I would then be ready to advance and do whatever was necessary in the state I lived in to become
