Innocent or Guilty on Bruno Hauptmann What struck me about this case was that the baby was found dead not far from the house. I think that the kidnappers just abandoned baby Charles Jr. once they realized he was dead. Bruno Richard Hauptmann was arrested, tried and executed for killing the baby. Although Hauptmann was found with the money,I can’t believe that he acted alone. At the trial, the witnesses were unreliable, the police work was sloppy and the kidnapping was too big of a job for one person.
When has everything became about how well you do on a standardized test? (Interoggative sentence/rhetorical sentence) Okay students, today you’ll be taking the PARCC. Okay students, today you’ll be taking the AIRS. Okay students, today you’ll be taking the Explorer SAT.
State standardized tests are exams students take to assess their schools, teachers, and what they learned in their year. Many parents and teachers deem these tests useless and see it as an unnecessary stress added to their child’s life. Students should not be taking this exam because it causes a major curriculum gaps between students, causes stress and loss of interest in school, and after almost a full year of learning, this test is supposed to determine a student 's knowledge of the year’s curriculum. Although some say this test prepares students for college, the stress and loss of interest in school caused by this test and test prep can affect student’s mental health and grades. State tests cause stress and anxiety in students, especially lower performing students because of the pressure of making sure all students, regardless of ability, reaches the same level.
The students march onto the stage one by one with faces filled with pure pride, joy, and elation. They search the crowd for their parents in order to share this milestone of a moment with the people who helped them achieve this level of education. The students raise their arms towards the sky with their diploma in one hand, and their mind set on the now, rather than their future. This day of true jubilation for both the students, and their families would be impossible without the educational system of the United States. However, as the gap between the rich, and the poor continues to inflate, rather than shrinking, the ability to make this opportunity available to all students has become more difficult.
There are many bills that have been placed in order to help people. In particularly, there has been a bill passed that states that there would be counseling to help those who need help going into college. This bill will ensure that the students are college ready by having check requirements on how well they pass statewide New Jersey standardized testing. I do not agree with the passing of this bill because even though these tests may help determine if a student is college ready, it does not measure their abilities to problem solve. This bill states that you must get a minimum of twenty four on the verbal ACT, a minimum of a five hundred and forty on the critical reading section of the SAT, and an advanced proficient score on the High School Proficiency Assessment, also known as the HSPA.
Almost every senior in high school as taken the SAT or ACT sometime during their last year in high school, most seniors have serious problems taking any sort of standardized tests. For the top students obtaining a 2400 on the SAT or a 36 on the ACT is no problem. But for the average student in the state of Hawai’i it is hard to get above a 1500 or 21.3 on the ACT (N.p. “Standardized testing can create a lot of stress on both educators and students” (“Pros and Cons of Standardized Testing”). Allowing this type of testing and amount of testing is causing a great deal of stress for every aspect in the matter. Not only are students stressed about the amount of knowledge placed in the tests, but parents and teachers as well. Teachers having to cram students with knowledge of a specific test, and parents having to help teach at home as well as having to help with problems and situations that they were never taught when they were in school. Many of students around the world are stuck at home studying each and every night in order to prepare for these tests that pretty much determine how smart society thinks they are.
In the beginning of the Odyssey Odysseus and his men are leaving the city of Troy happy to go home. Next, they run into trouble and get attacked by giants! In the middle of the story Odysseus gets stranded on a island and is stuck with a strange woman. In the process of all this some people think that he has died and suitors have come to remarry the queen Penelope! Luckily in the end Odysseus gets home and kills all the suitors so he can be king once again.
Standardized testing has been used in the United States since the late 1800s to test students in the subjects they’ve been studying for an entire year and ultimately decide if they pass or fail the year based on the results of these tests. After the No Child left Behind Act the use of the standardized tests increased, but have only negatively affected students in their learning. Backlashes to standardized testing has increased from students, teachers, and parents who deem these tests useless and unnecessary to a child’s education since students are only “taught to test.” Standardized tests should be removed as they offer students no life skills, they cause stress to students and teachers, and they only benefit the multibillion dollar companies distributing these tests. While many people are against standardized tests, many individuals still support these tests.
Throughout the years, standardized testing has become something no student looks forward to. But, there might be deeper reasons as to why they despise it. Standardized tests have been around since the mid-1800s and have been used to measure a students' knowledge and ability to achieve their goals. However, as the year's progress, this form of testing has proven to cause problems. Students, teachers, and schools are all affected by standardized testing and its components in various ways.
Standardized tests are not helping the students of the United States of America and they should remove the mandatory tests students are forced to take. Throughout one’s education in the United States of America, a student is going to run into many standardized tests. This is the result of the signing of the No Child Left Behind Act that was signed by President George W. Bush in 2002. It was signed to give more responsibility to the government to educate the children of the United States of America. Underneath all the legal words, it meant that states must test students, from the third grade to the twelfth grade.
The time that students spend outside of class studying for standardized tests could be used for something more productive. The school also has to create a modified schedule so students can take the standardized test- it will most likely result in shorter class periods, cutting away from valuable learning time. These tests waste incalculable hours during the school day and outside of
Standardized tests are jeopardizing countless students’ mental health and future career options, as such, should be removed from a student’s requirement to graduate. Several people become so stressed that they can not properly take the test. A majority of standardized tests are timed which hurts the students who know the subject, but read or work slowly. Standardized tests use knowledge that are not taught in class to help spread out scores which hurts numerous schools. Another issue with standardized tests that if a student do poorly on them, they will be rejected by the colleges or jobs that they want.
As a student in high school did you ever feel like the standardized test are helping you or making you get in to a better college? Have you ever thought about how many hours students and teachers spend preparing for the standardized test? Many hours and studying are being put into those test but are they really effective and are the test doing the students good in life? Standardized tests are really just to effective, teachers and students spend too much time on them and it’s not doing the students any good, and even it’s not doing the teachers any good. Standardized tests in schools today in Ohio should be stopped because they are causing for teachers to be evaluated by the test results of how the students do on the tests, they are having the students more stressed about school and do they benefit you in colleges and university and do they really look at how well students do on them test.
Sarah lacks enthusiasm, and has not bought into the state mandated standard achievement testing. Her experience with the state testing has lead her to the belief that two much time is spent on preparing students for testing, which resulted in lost of valuable instructional time, which would be more beneficial to the students and their understanding of the subject matter. It has become evident that most students have displayed a lack of interest in the state mandated testing and have exhibited very low motivation and desire to participate. The results of the standardized test in the opinion of Sarah do not actually reflect the students understanding, ability and capacity. The ability to motivate students in accepting the state mandated test continues to be a challenge for Sarah as she tries to prepare and encourage her students.
