When an organization is ready to make changes there are four categories in which change can take place. The categories are within the system model of change and called the target elements of change (Kreitner & Kinicki, 2013). Target elements of change are defined by Kreitner and Kinicki (2013) as the components of an organization that may be changed. The four target element categories include: organizational arrangement, people, methods, and social factors (Kreitner and Kinicki, 2013). It is very important to remember that if you make changes in any one of these categories it will ultimately affect the other categories. Moreover, people can be considered the most important of these categories due to the fact people will formulate the mission and vision and place it within the strategic plan.
