Cut the paper in half, fold it in half, stack 5 pieces of paper together, staple twice, fold in half again. I have been following this process for about 30 minutes when my boss hurried into the room. She informed me that the presenter for the day has cancelled and she needed someone to teach the summer camp group about the layers of the rainforest, and wanted me to do it. Needless to say, after one spot-on presentation about the rainforest, I realized that I wanted to be a teacher. Ever since my first experience teaching while volunteering at the zoo, I have been fortunate enough to have many more. I want to become a high school biology teacher. I want to teach biology because it is a branch of science that I am passionate about and want to spread that passion to others. That is one trouble I have had a lot in high school. Some of the teachers I would be scheduled with would just kind of talk about a topic, almost like I should already know anything and everything about the topic. Many students also encounter not this problem every day. I would struggle so much with the taught topics and never quite understand it, affecting my grades and interest in the class. One reason I want to be a teacher is to actually teach students about biology and make sure they understand it and its importance. I want to actually educate, not just lecture. If a student has a question, I will do anything and everything to help them out and make sure the understand! I believe that a teacher’s job is to teach, not regurgitate
