A large group of students in the United States makeup a large population of English language learners. Students who are considered English language learners undergo many challenges in their education, and without the necessary support and resources from their educators it can make it hard for them to succeed. A teacher plays a significant role in the success of a child, and it is crucial for them to be able to provide the proper education to students whose first language is not English. It is also very important for teachers to understand the challenges that these students are facing. Having empathy towards the students allows for the teacher to create better connections and relationships to better help them.
The purpose for students to go through so many stages to reach their goal of becoming a teacher is to make them more informed and experienced about their career. The professional dispositions allow the students to know how to behave professionally, be ethically professional towards their students as well as colleagues, personally develop their skills as a preservice candidate, and successfully go through the all the stages to become a teacher. In my experiences from K-12, I have never considered a teacher to be unprofessional to my peers or myself. A teacher who comes to school dressed accordingly for work is considered professional.
I am currently teaching at Swainston Middle School in North Las Vegas. Our student population is very diverse, including English Language Learners (ELLs). During this time as a teacher, I have served students with different language needs. It has been my goal to engage ELL students in my lessons as every other student. It is my opinion that as teachers we are all language teachers.
What do you currently teach and where? I am a December graduate of the University of Charleston. I graduated magna cum laude. After graduation I began substituting. I substituted at a variety of schools in Kanawha County in a variety of grades.
In my role as a future educator, I intend to balance the fulfillment of the curriculum's objectives with respect for the distinctive personalities of the students I will teach. I possess a strong preference for the care pedagogy method of education. Integrating care pedagogy into the classroom places the responsibility of providing a safe and caring environment on the educator and emphasizes the value of developing a rapport with the students so that they feel supported. I would like my future students to view me as a compassionate role model through my actions of promoting appropriate self-validation. I will actively work to establish a great deal of importance on my students' character growth as well as their success in education.
I believe each child is unique and deserves to receive the best education they can. Teaching is a very compassionate profession, and isn’t your typical forty hour Monday through Friday job. Today’s children are the future of our society, and as a future educator it is my desire to prepare those children for their future by encouraging respect, having an informal classroom, and allowing the student’s thinking process to help shape the classroom. Children are our future, and I believe the first step in getting them prepared is by having respect for themselves personally, peers and adults among them, and for all other things in their lives. In order for a student to respect me, I need to show the student that I respect them.
I believe that each and every child is unique in their own way. Who needs a secure and caring environment in which they can grow and mature emotionally, cognitively, physically, and socially. That’s why for me it’s important to help the students meet their full potential in this areas by providing an environment that is safe and also a place where they are able to share their ideas with each other and to let them explore their curiosity because after all that’s how they learn. As a teacher I feel that we should motivate our students to become the best that they can be by incorporating in our curriculum the many theories that we have learn in this class so that we can help them achieve their full potential. Spending late nights grading, dealing with parents, a teacher’s salary isn’t sufficient for the broad job descriptions they are responsible to meet. Although it takes someone with a loving heart to be a teacher, they are suppose to teach what will become of the future. Therefore wouldn’t they have the most important job? In addition to be a successful teacher, first teachers have to go school themselves. Moreover after comparing South Texas College, Texas State University and University of Rio Grande Valley based on my criteria of tuition cost,location, and strength of program, University of Rio Grande Valley would be my best choice in helping me pursue a career in interdisciplinary studies.
Growing up, I always knew I wanted to become a teacher. I knew it would be challenging, but rewarding with many benefits to come. But no one ever told me it can result in me getting sued. I graduated from Rutgers University in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and I was on my way to finishing up my teaching certification. The following school year I was set to start student teaching, but everything changed when the Superintendent of my old Middle School offered me position teaching math.
Every fall, a new group of students eagerly await the first day of school. They are excited to see their friends, classrooms, and of course to learn from their new teachers. I cannot wait to become the best possible teacher for my future students. At Emporia State University, I will be able to engage with other future educators and develop into the teacher I desire to be. Just as the students at the beginning of the school year are enthusiastic to begin a new journey, I am equally ready to begin this new chapter of my life.
I'm passionate about teaching and be able to see the children learn. I'm a leader with good classroom management skills. I believe as a teacher we need to teach, but teaching is an art and it should be fun for the kids. As a mom (and now a teacher), setting the rules is very important to be successful.
1. I want to become a teacher because I wish my teaching with my students to learn about special education in schools. This experience has shown me that there is so much more than just standing in front of a classroom and teaching students. As a teacher your contract hours may consist of 35 hours a week, but your actual hours are more like 60 hours a week. As a teacher you not only teach, you also attend meetings, hold parent conference meetings, grade papers, create lesson plans, act as a role model for all of your students, help with curriculum nights, assist on different teams and committees and a multitude of other duties. This service learning experience has better prepared me to become a teacher. I now know how I want to run my own classroom, how to incorporate engaging activities into my lessons, how to control a classroom, and several other teaching
I believe that it is my job as a teacher to establish a classroom community where all students feel valued and are able to express themselves in their own unique ways. I strive to provide a positive classroom environment where students are praised for following expectations and for being responsible learners. I believe that education is always evolving and it is my job to be on the forefront of education to support the different learning styles in the classroom. I want to use different instructional methods to reach all my students. Within my classroom I try to bring fun and creativity to my lessons and anchor charts in order to help my students develop a desire to learn and continue learning.
1 A teacher can build a positive relationship with students by remembering their names and important details. I’m a fan of having the students fills out a notecard with information they want their teacher to be aware of as well as their name and interesting facts. Which gives the student an opportunity to let the teacher know relevant information that may not come up normally in conversation. A positive classroom starts with constructive feedback where ever possible. Psychology tells us that all ages are more receptive to positive feedback.
