Teaching Philosophy Statement

As a child I had always said once I grew up I would be a teacher. Of course, many kids say that but that is not really what they want. That was not the case for me. My passion for teaching would blossom at the early age of 9.I noticed that many of the teachers were teacher centered and did not give the students a voice. After thinking long and hard I knew I wanted to be someone who could teach, lead and give students a platform. This is when I decided that I was going to be a teacher no matter what. Although that was a very big impact on my decision I knew my purpose in life was to teach and help others and the best way to do that is to educate the future leaders of America. After completing my first 2 years of college I was granted the opportunity to be a teacher at a local daycare. This was my first time having a class to myself and it was an experience I will cherish forever. During this time, I had children who were 3 years old-4 years old. I was able to implement many class management techniques and also experience how important the teacher-student relationship is. I believe that the atmosphere that you set in the first few weeks in the classroom determines the rest of your year. I was able to build a safe and happy environment during my time at the daycare.
