I believe that for education to reach its full potential, educators must consider teaching to be a lifestyle, not just a job, because a teacher's job is much more than forcing uninterested students to memorize useless facts. My goal for my classroom is to create well-rounded students who have the skills to excel in their future curriculum. I want my students to have pride in their work and to have respect for themselves and others. As a teacher, I must ensure academic, personal, and ethical growth among students in and out of my classroom. In order to accomplish these goals, it is important first to establish a mutually respectful, honest, and personal relationship with the each student, in which communication is prioritized. Through these relationships, an environment based on trust and caring can be established in the classroom, making it possible for students to feel confident and safe to interact and speak their mind both in academic and non-academic discussions. …show more content…

When a students energy is sparked by a teacher's genuine love for learning, the student become engaged in the learning and is more likely to retain the appropriate information. To achieve this active learning, a teacher must demonstrate enthusiasm and confidence in the students' abilities to learn and be successful. Employing constructivist methods of teaching in the classroom gives the students the opportunity to take an active role in their education. For instance, discussions, projects, and experiments ensure student achievement because students must make choices and assume responsibility for their learning.
