Abortion
The issue of legalized abortion in the United States has been a major point of debate among many groups of people. Even though abortion became legal in 1973, the controversy still exists. Many questions are raised such as should a woman have control over her body, when does a life begin, and should it be permissible only in extreme cases of rape and incest? There are several health problems that can affect the mother after having an abortion. Any individual has the right, even if it is still in the fetus, to live. Abortion should be illegal in all cases such as rape and possible birth defects. Abortion is also harmful long term for the female. (Gale)

If a woman gets pregnant, in the case of rape, the baby should still be able to live and not be aborted. For cases of rape or incest, having an abortion is pretty much blaming the child for the situation that happened. Punish the person that raped her not the unborn child. If we were to consider two infants, one created through marital intercourse, the other through forcible rape, would we say that one person was "more human" than the other (Brown, Judie, and Robert P. Someone is thriving right now to have a baby that can’t. There are people that will take care of that baby and will do everything they can for it. (Apolitano, Andrew P.) You are at higher risk of getting breast cancer, cervical cancer, PID, and infertility. Once the mother reaches a certain point in her pregnancy, her breasts tissue start to grow rapidly. When an abortion occurs, the mother still has that extra tissue and cells that stay in the breast and it can cause breast cancer. Cervical cancer can happen during induced abortion. PID is found more in women who have had 2 or more abortions. Excessive bleeding is another harmful thing that will occur after having an abortion. It feels like you have menstrual cramps all the time during it also. Women get depressed usually when they are about to have an abortion. They think that once it is all over that being depressed will go away. That’s not completely true. Some women take several weeks after the procedure to get over being depressed about the situation.
