DBQ 21: Causes of World War II Essay In 1939, the world’s greatest and most powerful nations were launched into World War II, also known as the worst war in modern history. The Second Great War included the central powers and the allied powers. The central powers, which included the countries of Germany, Italy, and Japan, committed belligerent and combative actions which opposed the League of Nations and democratic countries. In opposition to the central powers, the allied powers included the countries of Great Britain, France, the Soviet Union and the United States during the war.
Throughout World War II, the Soviet Union and the United States remained allies despite their different ideologies; however, once the war ended their cordial relationship began to disintegrate. Although troops from both nations were able to break language barriers and celebrate victories as one, by the time the Axis Powers claimed defeat, chaos in Europe left deep concern over the expansion of communist beliefs. In spite of their successful partnership in defeating their common enemy, several events from 1941 to 1949 increased suspicion and tension between the United States and the Soviet Union. Even throughout WWII the Soviets and the Americans had disagreement over wartime policies. FDR and Churchill had previously made agreements which
“I just wanna give up” and “I can’t do this anymore”. These phrases are said by many individuals throughout life, but in my opinion no one should never give up in life even if you have lost hope already. This message is shown throughout many poems that talk about some form of survival, and some of these poems are “I Am Offering This Poem” by Jimmy Santiago Baca and also “The Writer” by Richard Wilbur. In these poems, instead of using the plot to portray the message, they instead use a variety of symbols to represent the idea of not giving up in life. In the two poems “I Am Offering This Poem” by Jimmy Santiago Baca, the speaker’s love(the poem) and “The Writer” by Richard Wilbur, the starling, are both used as symbols that help show the idea of not giving up in life.
War is caused by poor, political decisions, appeasement, fight for land and power, and the conflict between countries. At the end of WWI, The Treaty of Versailles was signed to end all wars. The countries involved in WWII were the allies and axis. The allies were the US, China, Britain, and France. The axis were Germany, Japan, and Italy.
There is no doubt that WW2 was the most destructive and devastating war the world has known. It was the first international military battle, and resulted in an approximated 60 million deaths worldwide. It was a global fight, between the Axis (consisting of Germany, Italy and Japan) and the Allied Powers (Britain, United States, Soviet Union, France and other countries). Like with WW1, we cannot be certain to one lone reason as to why this war started, but we have come to numerous, understandable reasons. Although many people believe that its trigger was Germany invading Poland, there are many other reasons as to why it truly did outbreak into a global, chaotic conflict.
After World War I, countries were economically poor. Two decades later Germany invaded Poland, causing World War II. World War II was a long and tiresome war that lasted for six years. Along with the war, a horrific event also took place called the Holocaust. In all, the war was horrible, but to understand why the war happened, one must start from the beginning.
World War II is said to be the worst conflict in human history. About fifty to eighty million people died all together. There were concentration camps run by the Germans and there were essentially two wars raging. The two wars were the war in Europe and the war in the Pacific, which was Japan against the United States. World War II went on for six years and would destroy more land and property around the world and kill more people than any other war before.
There were over 70 million deaths over the course of World War I and World War II, 3 percent of the 1940’s population of 2.3 billion, and even more were left wounded. There could have been 60 million fewer deaths if World War I had not led to World War II. World War I led to World War II because the Treaty of Versailles was far too harsh on Germany and sent Germany into a deep depression. The major reason why World War I led to World War II was because the Treaty of Versailles was much too harsh on Germany.
Introduction to the War The Second World War (abbreviated as WWII), known as the war to end all wars is considered the largest and most violent armed conflict that took place in human history. The primary combatants were the Axis nations that included Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, Imperial Japan and their smaller allies with a totalitarian character and the Allied nations, led by Britain (and its Commonwealth nations), France , the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and the United States of America with a democratic ideology, the Allies were the victors of this war. In the beginning of the war the Soviet Union also belonged to the Axis until its invasion by Germany. The war lasted six years from 1939 till 1945*.
World War 2 started when Germany invaded Poland September 1, 1939. Hitler led Germany to claim land from Poland for more Germany controlled land. Germany used tactics called Blitz Kreig where you attack fast, catching the enemy off guard. September 17, 1939 the Soviet Union invaded Poland and drove back German troops.
The main causes of WWI were militarism, alliances, imperialism, and nationalism. The first main cause that was believed to have caused World War I is militarism which is the vigorous buildup of armed forces to intimidate and threaten other countries. Germany used militarism to eventually force Britain to become part of the alliance system. The second main cause was alliances. There were 2 major alliances that were involved in WWI.
World War II World War II was a brutal, bloody, and horrific modern war. It featured the Allies, chiefly composed of The Soviet Union, The United States, The United Kingdom, China, and France, against the Axis Powers of Germany, Japan, and Italy. This second great war devastates people, families, and countries beyond what could have ever been imagined. The conflicts of World War II arose from the unresolved tension left over from the end of World War I. The world was in a state of instability.

There was also the mass genocide that Adolf Hitler attempted towards anyone of the Jewish religion. Most everyone knows that the causes and effects of world war two was most definitely significant events in history. When people study the causes and effects of world war two, many fail to see all the things that were leading up to empowering Adolf Hitler in his quest to commit genocide of the Jewish religion.
Another cause of World War II was the Japan militarism and invasions in China in the 1930s. Additionally, another cause of World War II was that Great Depression left the world in a turmoil. The government was unstable, people were out of work, and trying to survive this terrible period in United States history.
