According to the Unites States Constitution, “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”. Gun control is a hotly debated issue that has been roaring for over half a century. The first major gun control act was the 1934 National Firearms Act. This attempt was to control the growing amount of mafia related crimes of the 30 's. Ever since then both federal and state governments have been cracking down on guns through gun control. Gun control is a failure because it does not work, firearms are not the problem and guns stop crime.
The Second Amendment says: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” The United States Constitution was written as a way for the American public not to be ruled, but to make sure that the government of the United States didn't get too much power. The most important amendment of the Constitution is the second one: the right to bear arms. This was written to provide protection against all enemies: those who invade the country, those who invade the property, and all that fall between. It is also there to help protect citizens from the tyranny of big government.
One of the strongest arguments those that are against gun control have is the 2nd Amendment, which reads, “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” Though it seems that it is specifically stated that an individual’s right to own guns is protected by this amendment, those for gun control interpret this from a different angle. They believe that the Constitutional Amendment was aimed at militias, not the common people, and therefore individuals do not have undeniable rights to gun ownership. Those that believe that gun control would be a crime are firm believers that the Founding Fathers understood the need for citizens to own guns to protect themselves against government intrusion. Lawrence Hunter, Chairman of Revolution PAC, stated, “The Founders understood that the right to own and bear laws is as fundamental and as essential to maintaining liberty as are the rights of free speech, a free press, freedom of religion and the other protections
Have you ever thought of what would happen if there comes a time when you need to defend yourself with a concealed weapon? There has been some good debates on whether or not we should be able to carry concealed weapons. Gun rights is a very controversial topic that is a wide debate today, however, I don't think we need restrictions. Because some people think that guns raise crime it actualy lowers it and it makes the Americans feel safer, the 2nd amendment allows it, and it keeps the power with the people. We shouldn't have gun control because the reason that most americans carry concealed weapons is that it makes them feel safe.
First of all, every American has the right to bear arms according to the 2nd amendment. " A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed" (Second Amendment). This is stated in the 2nd amendment and proves that the right to bear Arms cannot be infringed upon. According to a research conducted in Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy, the more guns there are, the less violence there is.
Gun control is one of the most controversial topics in American politics today and has been a hot topic for many years. There are many views on gun control, with people talking about their 2nd amendment right, a number of gun deaths, and things like background checks and more limitations on said guns, I believe that there should be stricter, or more gun control laws put in place. One of the main arguments made by people who are anti-gun control is that the Second Amendment gives them the “right to bear arms.” ( The US Constitution.) While this is true, the Second Amendment isn’t an unlimited right to own guns.
Despite what most pro gun control Americans think, gun control doesn’t lower crime, it actually raises it. With this said, when we look at right-to-carry states, which are states that make it easier to carry and buy guns, we see that, “The violent crime rate is 24% lower than the rest of the U.S., the murder rate that is 28% lower, and the robbery rate that is 50% lower” (Agresti & Smith, 2015). Two states that prove this are Florida and Texas. “On October 1, 1987, Florida pass a right to carry law which allows citizens to easily get and carry guns in public” (Agresti & Smith, 2015). Ever since the Florida right-to-carry law was enacted, the Florida murder rate has averaged 36% lower than it was before the law took effect (see Appendix D for
Children about as young as 4-5 know exactly where their parents keep firearms. About 35 percent of these children admitted to already using these weapons. Gun violence has been around since the existence of guns. The government has put some laws on guns in the past, but it seems people still refuse to follow them. The United States does not need stricter gun control because it will not be effective and will only cause more issues.
The Second Amendment of the United States constitution reads: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” The right of all Americans to bear arms is a right the Founding Fathers held to equal importance as the constitution itself. (The Guardian, 2017). The idea of gun control laws directly violates this constitutional right. The NRA believes that gun control should not be under consideration.
Gun control is good, but the country should focus on the laws that already exist. If we would focus and follow the laws that are in place now we would have less crime happen. Wrecks that cause fatality happen 75 percent more often than accidents involving guns(Owning guns). We can stop all gun crime if we become more strict with the laws and rules of owning a gun. We need to enforce better rules such as: doing more background checks on both buyers and sellers, getting people to go through a legal gun dealer, and removing all gun trafficking.
Do any of you believe gun control will help or make problems worst? There have been many mass shootings happening all over the world and Obama wants gun control. Gun control is laws that control how guns are sold, used and who can own them. Stricter gun control laws do not infringe the people’s right to bear arms.
In 1980, a terrifying 9,524 teenagers lost their lives in vehicle crash accidents. Today, due to better safety features, education and laws, that number has dropped to 2,524 (IIHS). Even as more and more drivers became licensed each year, the number of fatalities went down. There was never a need to ban or restrict the types of vehicles teenagers could drive. In another attempt to save lives, the federal government enacted the Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act to reduce the volume and lethality of gun violence by putting heavy restrictions on the types of weapons people could purchase and the accessories they could use.
Guns; Made to Protect not to Harm If guns kill people, then pencils misspell words, cars make people drive drunk, and spoons make people gain weight. The 2nd Amendment under the Constitution states, ¨The right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed¨ ( qtd. In Burgan 38). Today the decision of whether to infringe on the right to bear arms is a heavily debated topic.
According to the Second Amendment, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” The Second Amendment specifically states that “the right of the people to keep
First and foremost, banning guns will not stop criminals from obtaining and committing crimes with them. Furthermore, guns don’t kill people; people kill people. Lastly, guns prevent the government from becoming tyrannical and oppressive. At first, one may think that banning guns would be a superb solution to the growing problem of gun violence.
