In an Article written by the North Carolina Public Radio, a man named Manolo Betancur spoke of his experience with the American dream. Manolo stated that “I came to his country just with two pants, two shirts, my pair of shoes and $100 in my pocket, and I didn't even speak any English.” Even though it wasn’t necessarily easy he was able to get a college degree and become an American citizen. After getting a degree him and his wife were able to open a very successful bakery.

One challenge that immigrants go through is being able to have respect that the U.S. citizens have. Another challenge that immigrants face is being able to adapt to the new environment. People who arrive in the U.S. might not be able to speak English.
