The Pros And Cons Of Stricter Gun Laws

Ever since the shooting that took place in Florida, and took the life of 17 students, there had been multiple debates over gun laws. As a result of weak gun laws, it’s been easier for people to get their hands on guns. There are two sides to this debate, one side argues that there should be stricter gun laws, while the other side argues that the current gun laws should stay the same. At the end of the day, I side with stricter gun laws.

My first reason to why we should have stricter gun laws is, guns are very menacing and should not be authorized on the streets. If you’re not a police officer, why should you even carry a gun? Most deaths are mainly caused by gun violence. In line with John Hopkins Center for Gun Policy and research, “ more than 31,000 people a year in the United States die from gunshot wounds. Another fact to add is that the cost of gun violence in the U.S was estimated to be about $100 billion annually in 1998, we would have to pay higher taxes for gun violence. In the article “Issues Overview: Guns in America” by Bloomberg. States “ firearms are involved in the deaths of more than 30,000 people in the U.S annually, about two-thirds of which are suicides. Guns are also central to the story of the nation’s founding”, showing that gun violence has caused up to 30,00 death just in American. The evidence simply states that two-thirds of gun deaths are because of suicides. Some gun owners take their own lives using the gun they easily
